B&B Downham Hall - Wickford

Lovely rooms and dog-friendly, but heating issues made it uncomfortably cold.

Location: the hotel was near to Downham Hall and welcoming conservatory in lovely surroundings. The facilities were excellent and the breakfast was delicious with freshly squeezed orange, home-made preserves plus the eggs laid by chickens in the garden.

Beautiful and absolutely brilliant place, we felt very welcome!

The room was both immaculate and luxury with excellent bathroom, we appreciated it.

Perfect for family gatherings

We celebrated a birthday here and the kids had a blast. The staff were so friendly, greeted us like we were family, which makes all the difference when you're managing a party of children.

The grounds were fine with beautiful views, and the history shared by Andrew added a fantastic touch to our visit. We felt welcomed and appreciated the little things like homemade shortbread in our room.

The suite with garden view was fine, with a very comfortable bed that ensured a restful night. Breakfast served in the conservatory was excellent, with high-quality coffee and fresh juice enriching the experience. Although I didn't stay long, I noted limitations in the lunch menu and service speed, particularly during the peak hours. The staff were friendly, but the lengthy wait for the kitchen to produce sandwiches was disappointing.

This place was a prime choice for a little getaway in Wickford with good price-value balance. The gardens were lovely and provided a nice atmosphere. Be aware that breakfast details may not be clearly communicated.

The building and grounds were excellent with so much love and attention evident everywhere. The food was first class, and nikki's warm service at breakfast really made my morning. Having the tranquil views of the countryside made it all the more relaxing.

We had an unforgettable stay with lovely homemade preserves at breakfast and enjoyed the cozy yet elegant decor in our room. The garden area was perfect for relaxing outside with a cup of tea after exploring, and the sun terrace definitely added to our enjoyment. It did get a bit chilly at night, but that didn’t spoil our experience—definitely plan a visit! ☕️

A Nice Stay with Unmatched Views

Waking up in the bridal suite was magical, overlooking fine fields and grazing cows. The warm hospitality of the staff. Dinner for our group was delicious, paired with attentive service. Don't miss Christina's homemade breakfast-definitely a highlight!
